Before performing the following Shining, Mike Flanagan offers us a mini-series adapted from a classic of fantasy, and entitled ” A house among the hills.

Shirley Jackson, previously adapted by Robert Wise, whose The House of the devil is still today one of the greatest movies of haunted house ever made, is one of the autrices major from the literature of the darkness. It will be almost alone, resurrected, or even a renewed literature in the gothic style.

And in fact, Netflix account, to pay tribute to him by adapting The Haunted House, its text to the more well-known. And this is not anyone who will stick, since it is Mike Flanagan. Noted for his applied work on Jessie, The Mirror , or even Hush, the artist is a craftsman and master of its effects, which work without genius but is driven by a reflection that is often interesting, and inventiveness welcome.

And is found both his masters that his taste for the imagery, the multiple influences (gothic, japanese…) in the first trailer of’A house among the hills, which will be a mini-series of ten episodes.

In the state, not easy to recognize the paw of Shirley Jackson in this story, which seems to have mutated from scientific experimentation to the chronic family. Unless, of course, that Flanagan has not started to combine The Haunted House and the second was a masterpiece of Jackson : We Have always lived in the castle, a story of family nightmarish and intoxicating.

Released on October 12, 2018, the series will allow us to wait before we discover the adaptation of Doctor Sleep, sequel to the Shining, which is Flanagan.
