No, this is not a kit-car. This is a genuine Shelby Cobra and not any.

A million, it is the amount of estimated sale by Mecum Auctions for the ultimate Shelby Cobra 289 1965. It’s a lot of sub, but once we grasp the rarity of the model, we can better understand.

This copy, identified by the code CSX2588, is the last Shelby manual (four-reports) have been produced and have been sold to a customer. Even today, the serial numbers of the chassis, engine and bodywork are consistent. For a car collection, that is certainly a value added.

The CSX2589, equipped with an automatic transmission, was kept by Carroll Shelby.

In 1965, she was sold in California, A. L. Gassaway, who became the first owner of this car. He kept it until 1975 before selling it. A few collectors have eventually succeeded, but the entire history of the car is known and documented.

Red color Iris, she is one of 56 Cobra to be painted in this color. In the second half of the 2000s, the owner of the era, Colin Comer, offered him a new paint respecting, fortunately, the original color.

    Under her hood is a v8 engine, 298-inch-cube Hi-Po.

It will be at the auction of Mecum Auctions, which will be held in Monterey between 16 and 19 August next.
