There is a big misunderstanding about Joss Whedon currently. If it is not the greatest filmmaker in the world, however we can not imputing completely the failure that was the Justice League. And we’re waiting for his new work with great impatience.
6 years ago, Joss Whedon had done the impossible, giving life to the Avengers, before coming back in 2015 with Avengers : Age of Ultron and show that at the transition, it had been crushed by the machine that is Marvel. Washed, he had left the MCU to turn to the competition, DC, where he had to ride his project Batgirl before resuming hand-in-extremis the Justice League Zack Snyder to the result that we know unfortunately.
Joss Whedon
If a lot of the world collapsed on him at the time, it is important to understand that Whedon was not necessarily the hands-free. As he did not on the second Avengers. No, in order to know what is capable with the man, it is necessary to look back and to the tv. Because Whedon is at the origin of some of the biggest series for the youth of the world. The excellent Buffy the vampire slayer, the extraordinary Angel (especially the fifth season) and the no less classy Firefly. The three titles that have made us dream, laugh and cry and who are, in many respects, as evidence that the creator is much better on the small screen than on the large.
Has the glorious era of Buffy
So it is with a certain happiness that we learn from the mouth of HBO that Joss Whedon launches out finally in a new series, with exclusive use of the network and called The Nevers. A rather crossed out if it is because it will invite us to follow the adventures of a few women in full Victorian era who find themselves with super abilities ready to save the world with who knows what threat. An original series that will occupy it fully, since Whedon is projected to record the positions of producer, showrunner, screenwriter and director. What let him have the freedom to do a little of what he wants. And restore us to a series of the calibre of Buffy ? This is at least what we hope. Just like a first date of dissemination.
Firefly is available on Netflix
