Al Pacino, Michael Mann and Eric Roth have failed to turn a movie House of Cards
Apart from the prestigious series Netflix House of Cards with Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, the novel by Michael Dobbs could be adapted into a film.
For those who don’t know the story, House of Cards is a political thriller by the English writer Michael Dobbs, published in 1989. He was a politician, shrewd, manipulative and amoral willing to do anything to get the control and power to the government.
This novel was first adapted for television by the BBC and Andrew Davies in 1990 in the series House of Cards to eventually be taken over and reinterpreted by Beau Willimon and Netflix in an american version this time in House of Cards.
Al Pacino already thank its voters
We learned in the columns of The Playlist that the producer of the series Eric Roth would have let out a small scoop juicy about a possible film House Of Cards. It was in a round-table discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, which he joined in November to talk about the writing of A Star is Born. It also learns the reason why this project was killed in the egg.
“An agent came to find me with House of Cards. I knew it because Michael Mann, Al Pacino and I wanted to make a film of it at a time. So I said yes and I sent it to David Fincher, and they have ended up doing it. “
In a film world or everything seems possible, a feature film with Michael Mann, Al Pacino and Eric Roth could have been really memorable. But, even if you can see Al Pacino in the role of the politician without scruples, that the film is not existed has at least allowed Kevin Spacey to slip into the costume’s iconic Frank Underwood.
Unfortunately for House of Cards, the first great success of Netflix, it has suffered much from the forced departure of Kevin Spacey after the scandal of accusations of sexual assault, and his last season has not been at the height of the rest of the series. Suddenly this idea for a film blown by Eric Roth gives really want. Maybe see it on the day ?
