A Montreal wants to bring a collective action against Airbnb, in which he criticized for not immediately display the total price of a rental, such as the law requires.

“In doing so, Airbnb is breaking the Law on the protection of the consumer,” said lawyer Joey Zukran in the application as filed this week at the superior Court of Quebec.

The lawyer gives the example of the Montreal Martin Preisler-Banoon who wanted to spend a few days in Florida in the past month. However, during the first stage of the booking process, the service charges were not posted, contrary to the cleaning costs.

By adding the costs of the service, the price was about 17 % more expensive, one can read in the court document. The lawyer to seek $ 100 in damages for each client of Airbnb in Quebec have used the services of the company since August 22, 2014.

Contacted by The Journal, Airbnb did not wish to comment on the case because it is before the courts.
