Domino’s will deliver a pizza with a car without a driver

As for this week, the fast food chain Domino’s will begin the pizza delivery at the edge of autonomous cars.
Thanks to a partnership with Ford, the giant pizza wants to study the behavior and the reaction of its customers in the face of a driverless car that comes to bring them their meals.
Over the next six weeks, therefore, the customers of the restaurants Domino’s in the region of Ann Arbour, Michigan, are likely to see a vehicle fully automated to land in their court.
As she may not come knocking at the door, the car will send the sms to clients, who will then go outside and enter a four-digit code to unlock a compartment warmed up in which is their meals.
An engineer from Ford will be aboard the car to intervene in case of need, but a tinted window to prevent being seen by the customers and come into contact with them.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the president of Domino’s, Russell Weiner, has explained that this trial period would help the company to understand the reaction of people in the face of automated vehicles. “The majority of our questions can be found in the last 50 feet of the experience of delivery”, avance-t-il.
Delivering a billion pizzas in the world each year, Domino’s has no less than 100 000 delivery only in the United States.
