The Nissan Altima will adopt a new design and engine performance for 2019. But for us, it is especially the addition of the wheel to the full risk of making happy.

Yes, the Nissan Altima will now be offered in a configuration with four-wheel drive. Obviously, we want to come and play in the flowerbeds of the Subaru Legacy.

Unlike the Legacy, the basic version of the Altima will remain equipped with front-wheel drive, but Nissan Canada will ensure that the new train in full will be offered in several versions.

Apart from a height slightly raised, the Altima, the AWD will propose a design identical to that of the other variants.

Speaking of design, this new Altima drives the grid in a “V” of Nissan to a new level.

Wider, longer and lower than the outgoing model, this new generation has an image much more dynamic. In a market where the headliners that are the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord come in for a makeover, a major redesign was called for in Nissan.

An engine with a variable compression under the hood

The motion in full is not the monopoly of the novelty on this Nissan Altima 2019. The japanese manufacturer has also confirmed that a four-cylinder engine with variable compression, will be offered as an option. We do not know, however, is always not if it will be in Canada or if it will be reserved for the us market.

Presented there a few months ago at the launch of the Infiniti QX50 2019, this is the first engine with variable compression of production in the world. Its compression ratio can be increased from 8:1 to 14:1, which may enhance performance or fuel economy depending on the type of conduct adopted by the person at the wheel.

Developing 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, this mechanism called VC-Turbo will allow the Altima performance that he knew not, until now. However, Nissan states that the train in full will not be available with this powerplant.

To be eligible, it will rather turn to the block four-cylinder naturally aspirated 2.5-litre that already offered on the current model. Nissan claims to have replaced, or altered 80% of the components of this mechanical. His power is thus a bond of 9 small horses, ranging from 179 to 188. It also promises a fuel consumption improved, but the official figures have not yet been announced.

    A driving increasingly automated

Following in the footsteps of the Leaf and the Rogue, the Altima, the 2019 will also be available with the system ProPilot Assist.

Without replacing the driver, this technology represents a step towards driving automated. Able to adjust its direction depending on the lines on the road, it can also be followed to adjust its speed to the speed of the traffic without the person at the wheel does not have to do anything.

The Nissan Altima 2019 will arrive at dealers during the summer. No price has been announced yet, but expect a slight increase compared to the model 2018, available from 26 298 $.
