Fromagerie Nouvelle France, located in Racine in the eastern Townships, has won three awards in as many different categories in the competition American Cheese Society.
The sheep’s milk cheese La Madelaine has won first place, while the Zacharie Cloutier, who is also a sheep’s milk cheese aged over 60 days, has reached the second place. Finally, the yogurt sheep’s nature was ranked a close third.
“We are very pleased to have been able to differentiate ourselves with our yogurt from sheep. It has outperformed others that were excellent to our eyes,” explained Marie-Chantal Houde, co-owner of the cheese factory.
The enterprise Root specializes in the production of sheep’s milk since 2010. In 8 years, the owners can boast of having won nearly forty awards.
“A company like this one spread throughout the region Cantons-de-l’est. More and more people move to enjoy our tourism, agri-food, be it cheese, wine or beer,” stressed the spokesman of Tourisme Cantons-de-l’est.
