Game of Thrones season 7: Episode 2, Arya’s scene and SPOILER explained

Cinema 26 July, 2017

Back on a scene we all expected between Arya and SPOILER in episode 2 of season 7 of Game of Thrones. Warning, spoilers!

When we saw a direwolf in the promotional video of episode 2 of season 7 of Game of Thrones, of which you can read our review on melty, facing Arya, we thought that the young Stark would finally find Nymeria and would finally be less lonely. However, this is not at all what happened, and the scene between Arya and Nymeria has left us a little bit hungry. Not only are the reunions between Arya and her wolf not at all expected. But Nymeria shows no sign of affection towards her former mistress – apart from the fact that her pack does not eat it – and leaves in the woods. Add to this the fact that Arya says at the end of this scene “that’s not you”, which translates literally “it’s not you”, left us very confused. This direwolf is not Nymeria? What is going on ?

Well, yes, the direwolf we saw is Nymeria and the sentence pronounced by Arya is deliberately made to remind us of a scene from season 1. When Arya pronounces these words “it’s not you” She means is actually that Nymeria is not the kind of she-wolf to be domesticated. It is not made for a peaceful life in Winterfell, but to go adventure, be free. And that, Arya understands it perfectly because that’s exactly what she told her father, Ned Stark in Game of Thrones’ season 1, when he asked her why she was not like her sister, Love sewing and all the other things that make a good lady. The place of Nymeria is in the nature with its pack, just like that of Arya is on the field of battle to fight rather than within the enclosure of a castle. We will certainly not see Nymeria again to our regret, but we keep hope of having some moments with Ghost. While waiting to discover it, we propose you to read what it should happen in episode 3 of season 7 of Game of Thrones.
