Game of Thrones season 7: Episode 2, the victory of SPOILER, our critic

New Game and Thrones Season 7! Check out our review of “Stormborn” and pay attention to spoilers.

That’s it, the new episode of season 7 of Game of Thrones was broadcast last night on HBO and OCS and we propose you to discover our criticism. As usual, watch out for spoilers. “Stormborn” opens at Dragonstone to find a more talkative Daenerys than in the premiere season. The arrival of Melisandre allows the series to finally talk about “Prince / princess that was promised” and the red priestess bets on another horse (hoping it is the right): Jon Snow AND Daenerys Targaryen. Unlike the latter, however, Daenerys trusts him and cordially invites his nephew to Dragonstone with the help of Tyrion and his references to season 1. His alliance with the Sand, Olenna Tyrell and the Greyjoy is put in place Despite some reservations and we always thank Tyrion for finding the right words.

It must be said that level speech, Team Dany defends rather well since Varys has once again proved his wisdom and his loyalty to Daenerys at the beginning of the episode. Whatever it is a strategy is set up and those who have followed the spoilers already know it, things will go wrong for the duo Greyjoy / Sand. But before we get interested in the naval battle that awaits them, let’s see the reaction of Jon and Sansa when they receive the Daenerys invitation. As one would expect, Sansa is more than suspicious and Davos is not quite packed either. But Sam’s message that informs Jon of the dragonglass mine under Dragonstone ends up convincing the new “King in the North” to go there.

Jon silenced the protestations of his Lords with authority, and we must admit that we were well pleased to see him impose himself with a little more conviction than what we usually see. How many times was Jon right and did he hear he was telling anything? Anyway this will give us the opportunity to finally see Jon and Daenerys meet and as much as you say we are already looking forward. Somewhere in Westeros, Arya continues to go it alone and finally learns that the Boltons no longer reign over the North and Jon Snow is back in Winterfell. Neither one nor two and after a few compliments to her friend Hot Pie, the young Stark is back on her way and falls on her wolf, Nymeria. After a rather touching exchange of looks, however, Nymeria and her pack turn around and break our hearts a little.

One imagines that it is a way for the series to tell us that apart from some appearances of Ghost, it is finished of the Direwolves and their technical complexity … Besides that one could almost put our hand to cut That when Arya arrives at Winterfell, Jon will have already left for Dragonstone. On the seas, the plan of Daenerys undergoes a slight mishap with the attack of Euron Greyjoy who promised a gift to Cersei. Yara and Ellaria have just enough time to “get to know more” that the war between the two fleets is declared. Euron and his army quickly gain the upper hand, killing two Sand Snakes and capturing Tyene and Ellaria to bring them back to Cersei. The episode concludes with the uncertain fate of Yara, which was no doubt captured too but especially on the flight of Theon who sees his sister the knife under her throat. Did he do that to go and tell Daenerys about this defeat? By fear ? We’ll probably know soon enough …

Finally at King’s Landing, Qyburn and Cersei found a way to attack the dragons while at the Citadel, Sam heals Jorah in a magnificently disgusting scene. In the end it is a fairly predictable episode that we have been given to see since between the promo videos, the promos and the spoilers, the different plots did not really surprise us. Season 7 of Game of Thrones continues at its own pace with sometimes some scenes that are dispensable to the story but that dig the characters a little. We have to admit that the confrontation between Jon and Baelish in the crypt made us think that Littlefinger would reveal to Jon its true origins but it will probably be for another episode …
