Scarlett Johansson came back again on his polemical role in Ghost in the Shell!
At the announcement of Scarlett Johansson in the role of Motoko Kusanagi for Ghost in the Shell live-action (a new TV spot was unveiled) , many fans were unhappy! And for good reason: the white actress was going to embody a very popular Japanese character . A news that really did not rain and promptly aroused controversy. The actress wanted to return on the latter in Marie Claire declaring “Never I thought to play a character with origins different from mine” . An excuse that comes to join that of many Internet users who had justified this choice by explaining that Motoko Kusanagi is nothing but a robot and thus takes the form intended by its creator.

Scarlett Johansson went on to explain that “Diversity is important in Hollywood, I can never play a character that I consider offensive, not to mention that Ghost in the Shell will be the starting point of a great franchise with a strong female character I feel enormous pressure and a weight on my shoulders for that! ” . The director of Ghost in the Shell, who “pushes the limits” according to him , had also explained that the film had a very diverse cast with the famous Japanese Takeshi Kitano or our Juliette Binoche national!
