The craze around Harry Potter and his universe does not stop, far from it. Even after the release of the last part of the saga, the fans are always present … Discover our interview of Sean Biggerstaff alias Olivier Dubois!
A little less than a month ago, the Potterheads had the chance to meet some Harry Potter actors … But how? Just by going to the third edition of the convention “Welcome To The Magic School” organized by People Convention and which previously hosted actors such as Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis, Stan Yanevski, Natalia Tena and Evanna Lynch . In addition, Luna Lovegood’s interpreter was back in this new edition along with Mark Williams, whose exclusive interview you can find , as well as Devon Murray, Alfred Enoch, Josh Herdman and Sean Biggerstaff! The interpreter of Olivier Dubois, who is the goalkeeper and captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, played on his adventure in the famous JK Rowling saga …
Sean Biggerstaff: Wow, um … It was huge for me. I’ve been an actor since I was about 10 years old, so for 23 years now. I do a lot of things not necessarily known and of course, Harry Potter is the thing everyone knows about me and everybody always wants to talk to me. It’s great to have been able to participate in this adventure, to be involved in it. I was naive when I started, I had not even read the books until the audition. I was aware of the phenomenon like all children but I did not think it would become such a phenomenon. Basic, I auditioned for Percy Weasley, it would have been more fun I think to embody but when I did the audition, the casting director looked at me and said: “You are made to be Olivier Dubois “. I had just read the books and so I noticed that there were few descriptions about the character. But it was still cool!
What was the death that touched you the most in the saga?
Sean Biggerstaff: Ouch … It’s really a tough question. I remember crying for Dumbledore’s death when I read the books. I was in a cafe and I did not want to be seen crying while I was reading Harry Potter.
What’s your best shot?
Sean Biggerstaff: It was when we made the release of the second film on DVD, there was a broadcast of the film in King’s Cross itself. It was amazing! The whole cast of Harry Potter was in the Hogwarts Express and the train entered the station like that. People were waiting for their usual train and when they saw the Hogwarts Express instead of their train and in addition with all the actors it was hilarious. I would have liked to be in the place of his people, it was really funny. This is a very precious moment for me.
Melty: You were a great friend of Alan Rickman, would you have an anecdote to tell us about him?
Sean Biggerstaff: If I were to tell you a story about Alan, there would be one in particular, but I’m sorry, it is dear to my heart and very personal. I prefer to keep it for myself. Really sorry !
What’s the typical day at Hogwarts for you?
Sean Biggerstaff: I think it would be watching Quidditch games and even participating. And to hope that there will be no wounded … or dead!
Which spell would you most use in everyday life?
Sean Biggerstaff: Uh, uh … Abracadabra? It’s a basic but I’m not good at it! At least, everyone knows it! Did you like Olivier Dubois in Harry Potter?
