    Look at this article

Has this happened to you you park near a gas station, get out of your vehicle to the full and to realize that the fuel filler cap is on the other side?

Don’t worry, we’ve all been there at least once. And it is excusable, because even in our world excessively regulated, the automobile manufacturers have not yet come to a consensus to know which side must be the gasoline cap. On some models, it is on the left. And on others, it is to the right.

Yet, all of the steering wheels of cars sold in us are on the same side, non? And the accelerator pedal is always to the right of the brake pedal, without exception.

With the gas tank, go figure why, it is anarchy.

    A regulation partial

If there is no Law that forces car manufacturers to standardize the location of their fuel tank cap, car manufacturers are still subject to the obligations of this chapter.

For example, it is forbidden to position the nozzle in the tank at the rear end of a vehicle. During the 60’s and 70’s, several models were hiding their fuel filler behind the license plate. Very convenient, this location is increased, however, the risk of explosion if a vehicle were to be rear-ended by the back.

Now, all models sold in North America are seeing their fuel flap positioned on a side of the vehicle. It only remains to determine which.

    The miracle solution

To solve this thorny problem, the manufacturers have found a solution. And it was in front of you all this time.

On the dashboard of all cars, just next to the pictogram of a petrol pump is a small triangle. If the cap of petrol tank of your car is to the left, the triangle will be to the left of the symbol and will point also to the left.

And it will be right if the cap is to the right.

That is, it is as simple as that!
