    Look at this article

Before calling me crazy, read until the end.

I love the old stuff, and more especially, the old tanks. It is not new. At the age of 17 in 2012, I bought my first car old : Brownie, a Chrysler Newport 1972.

After that, others are added in the street, in front of the house : a Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6 1998 (it is not yet SO old, I grant you) and a Mercury Grand Marquis 1983.

But it seems that I am not yet satisfied.

A few days ago, a friend prompted me to fall into the vice again by sending me an ad of a Ford Tempo 1989 for sale on the internet.

Then it was the sedan the most banal at the time, I find that it is, today, more interesting than ever.

As it was relatively accessible with a price of around 8000 $ at the time of its market in the mid – ‘80s, it was sold to the breaking up in the mid – ‘90s.

Almost everyone knows someone who has had one. Or knows someone who knows someone who had one. In my family, I have an aunt who has had a Ford Tempo, and another that had a Mercury Topaz. A whole doubled !

And as it was a car without interest, no one – or almost – has taken care with the goal that it passes through the decades. It was just a stupid means of transportation. Unlike a Mustang GT convertible of the same years, for example.

No one has parked a Ford Tempo for the winter, and it is that fact that the survivors, in an acceptable condition, are extremely rare. Especially in a province where salt is spread in abundance during the winter.

The one that my friend presented was produced in 1989. It is white, and still bears what appears to be the sticker from the dealer where it came from in the world. According to the announcement, it has always belonged to the same lady. The cars change hands with the seasons, it is necessary to be wary of.

As for the odometer, it shows only 72 000 miles. In 29 years, it is very little. The seller also points out that it has been treated against rust. It, for a guy char, it’s a bit like the cherry on the sundae.

If it had been equipped with the train full, box, manual, or even a diesel engine, I wouldn’t have hesitated a single moment to jump on the opportunity. These features were rare at the time and extremely rare today.

All that to say that as of this moment, I think strong. I am not yet gone to inspect it. But I doubt very much that if I’m going to see it, it will be stronger than me and I’m going to draw. At $ 1000, the risk would not be very high, after all.

OK, then you can treat me crazy.
