Japanese Legendary Rock Band GLAY Will Perform at Golden Melody Awards Ceremony
The 28th Golden Melody Awards ceremony will be grandly held at Taipei Arena on June 24th. Japanese famous rock band GLAY is invited to attend and perform in this extraordinary occasion. “It’s good to be back in Taiwan,” says GLAY, “especially on an honorary stage like Golden Melody Awards. We are honored.”
Over the past 24 years, GLAY have held multiple major outdoor concerts with over 100,000 people in the audience each time. It’s one the most powerful bands in Japan in mobilizing their fans. With many followers in Taiwan as well, GLAY is looking forward to the upcoming performance. “We hope to show all we have in our passionate performances to our fans”, they say. GLAY held a concert in Makuhari in Chiba prefecture in 1999 with 200,000 people in the audience, the highest in Japanese history. It’s also a world record. Since debut in 1994, they have sold multiple million-piece singles, the fourth highest in Japanese history. It’s one of the representative rock bands in Japan, very influential in 1990s. Classics include ‘However’, ‘Yuuwaku’, and ‘Be with You’, with many accolades. GLAY has great friendships with local band May Day in Taiwan. “We spent all night talking about music, life and future. It’s unforgettable,” says GLAY. After the concert in Taiwan four years ago, GLAY promises that “we will definitely come back with another concert in the near future.” GLAY will perform at Golden Melody Awards ceremony on June 24th.
