Within the range of a Lincoln, the Navigator is located at the top. And to stay in the aquatic theme put forward by the brand, it defines it as the flagship model. Being somewhat older, the Navigator has been completely redesigned for 2018.
In terms of luxury, comfort and prestige, the Lincoln has put all the gum. The Navigator is now better equipped than ever to compete with his eternal rival : the Cadillac Escalade. Interestingly, both have also been launched in the same year, in 1998.
On the american side, in recent years, it has sold annually approximately 10 000 Navigator, against a little more than double in relation to Climbing. On this side of the border, the market is infinitely smaller. The sales range between a few hundreds of Navigator, compared to more than 1500 Climbing. With this latest release, Lincoln means well, of course, be a bulwark stay to its rival the closer.

A V6 is efficient, but not V8
Under the hood, it is familiar ground. In fact, the all-new Navigator is powered by the V6 Ecoboost 3.5 L, which also takes place in the Ford Expedition and F-150.
Even if it has two cylinders less than the Escalade, the Navigator is more powerful with 450 horses and 500 lb-ft, compared to 420 horses and 460 pound-feet.
In contrast, the absence of a V8 in the catalogue the risk of upsetting a public, are more traditional. It is estimated that Lincoln would have been able to offer, at least as an option. Recall that the platform of the Navigator is the same as that of the Ford F-150 and that the latter, in fact available with a V8 5.0 L.
In terms of consumption, it is suitable. With so much power and torque, however, don’t expect a miracle. In the city, the Navigator consumes 14,9 L/100 km, compared to 16.6 L/100 km for rock Climbing. On the road, they consume, respectively, 11.3 L/100km and 10.9 L/100. It is fascinating to see that a V8 of 6.2 L is less greedy on the highway than a V6 3.5 L.
As pointed out in the case of the Ford Expedition, it is pertinent to question the reliability and maintenance costs of a turbocharged v-6 compared to a V8 traditional whose formula is proven for a long time. That said, Cadillac has been identified as the branded the least reliable in the most recent ranking of Consumer Reports. In short, there is room for improvement.

Comfortable and quiet like no other
Oh it is comfortable, the new Navigator. At the same time, the contrary would have been surprising. In a vehicle of the Lincoln brand, we expect it and nothing less. In this chapter, it is totally successful.
The trial version was equipped with adjustable front seats according to 30 ways in addition to being heated, cooled and massaging. For long roadtrips, we could hardly ask for a better comfort. For this purpose, the technology of active noise reduction provides a stillness that is at once spectacular and comforting. It is the same for the finish also. In this regard, we feel we get our money’s worth.
As is the case for the Expedition at Ford, the second row of the Navigator can be configured in one of two ways: a bench seat that can accommodate three occupants, or a pair of bucket seats separated by a console. This last, absolutely imposing, can only be removed or modulated differently. In this configuration, the utilitarian aspect is, shall we say, a little neglected.
As for the third row is a bench seat which can sit three people. Compared to other vehicles with a third-row seat, the seat is higher, which does not give the impression of being seated on the carpeted floor. In short, Lincoln had thought about the comfort of all.

It is not just beautiful, it also pulls!
The Lincoln Navigator has the air of anything but a gross job. But that’s because he hides well its game.
As we said earlier, it is built on the same platform as the F-150. Shoot, it does not scare her. With the system in four-wheel drive and the interior of regular format (an extended version named ” L ” is also available), it can tow up to 3765 kg. This charge is identical to the one that can get the Cadillac Escalade.

Everything is optional, oh well?
The entertainment system for rear seats is optional, it is correct. At this point, we are talking about a small quirk that one pays for the pleasure of the passengers. But after having paid out more than$ 87,000 for an SUV, it is necessary to pay extra for accessories such as driving lights and automatic head-up display, it goes less well. That these elements are optional on a compact car at$ 20,000, there will be no reason to stress. But for the price what is the cost of the Navigator, such equipment should not be optional.

Brief
Even if Lincoln knows that it wouldn’t sell tons, it put a lot on the vehicle, which acts as the standard-bearer of the brand. She has made every effort to ensure that the cabin is spacious, stylish, comfortable, and quiet.
There is no crystal ball. We can not predict the behavior of consumers. But one thing is certain, this new Navigator has all the attributes needed to compete against its enemy, the Climbing.
