With its most recent announcement, Nissan’s answer to the question that the detractors of the electric car arise : but what to do then with the old batteries?
The japanese manufacturer has initiated a pilot project whose goal is to provide street lighting using batteries of old Leaf.
These new street lights will be powered by the combined energy of the batteries and solar energy.

Following the major earthquake and tsunami of 2011, this initiative aims to provide public lighting to the residents of the town of Namie, which has been particularly hard hit by this natural disaster.
This new type of lighting is more modern. Completely independent of the electrical network, it does not require any cable.
