Check out our review of Episode 11 of Season 4 of Reign, which aired last night on the American channel The CW.
Whenever Mary thinks she can trust Darnley again, Darnley’s ambition reminds her of how shabby and unworthy he is. Episode 11 of Reign’s Season 4 begins two weeks after James’s departure and Mary must acknowledge that since she announced to Darnley that she is pregnant her behavior has improved. The latter quickly interrupts the conversation that Mary is having with Greer to tell him that Elizabeth is about to marry Archduke Ferdinand, a Catholic. If Mary still wants to have the support of the Vatican to take the English throne from Elizabeth, she must do so before a Catholic king is already at the head of the country. She then developed a plan with Darnley to organize a coup to overthrow Elizabeth. But soon, Darnley’s ambition and thirst for power regained the upper hand and he insisted again that she agreed to give him the matrimonial crown .
If their plan works, he would then become King of Scotland and England even if Mary were to die, if Mary refused to give him the matrimonial crown, then their future child would inherit thrones. In the face of Mary’s categorical refusal, Darnley loses her composure and makes him realize that if their undertaking to dethrone Elizabeth is a failure, he will put all the blame on her. Mary then decides to turn to the only two men on whom she can now count: Rizzio and Bothwell . If Mary, with the help of her two faithful friends and Gideon, succeeds in avoiding the coup d’etat against Elizabeth, she will have to redouble her efforts to get rid of Darnley. He does not want to let go of the affair and is resigned to getting the matrimonial crown. What gives rise to a scene where Adelaide Kane shows us just how badly she plays the queen bad-ass to perfection . And while she wants to arrest her husband who openly threatens her, the latter tells him that she can not do otherwise he will tell anyone who wants to hear her that the child she is carrying is not his. When we think that this man can not become more detestable, he still comes to surprise us …
Meanwhile, in France, Henri already acted as if the court of France were his. It organizes celebrations, it struts, it tells of its exploits of combatant, in short it is slightly unbearable and very imbu of itself. Catherine immediately sees her play and it becomes so in the eyes of everyone when he publicly assaults his brother Charles while playing tennis . Unfortunately, Henri does not have to make remarks and warnings of his mother, he has the support of his sister Leeza and the Spanish crown and that is enough for him. In addition, it even happens to put Narcissus in the pocket discovering that this one has an affair with Nicole. By discovering that even his most faithful counselor and ally is on Henry’s side, Catherine sees no other choice but to turn to black magic to protect Charles . Yes, the magic is back at the French court. The fact that Nostradamus is mentioned in the episode should have made us chic. This spell must make Charles stronger and more powerful than ever … And we do not know you, but we feel that this marks the beginning of new troubles for him and Catherine.
