Star Trek : Discovery – several series starts, big budget… the plant to trekkies is well revived

Star Trek : Discovery has revived the machine, and the CBS does not stop there.

Down in the cinema, with a Star Trek 4 more or less in a stalemate following the disappointing score of Star Trek Without limits, the saga cult has found a new life in the form of series. Launched at the end of 2017, Star Trek : Discovery (re)conquered the world, allowed CBS to earn a lot of subscribers to its streaming service All Access, while its broadcast almost simultaneously on Netflix has given the series a certain popularity.

So that very quickly, the idea of a spin-off around the captain Philippa Georgiou, embodied by Michelle Yeoh, was born. A project now officially confirmed, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And with the announced returned of Patrick Stewart in his role as worship of captain Picard of Star Trek : The next Generation, CBS has the firm intention of reviving the plant to trekkies.

THR writes that CBS pays Alex Kurtzman (co-creator and producer of the series, which has taken over from Bryan Fuller after his hasty departure) $ 25 million to oversee this universe Star Trek. CBS All Access has rights of the universe invented by Gene Roddenberry there are more than fifty years, and has a vested interest to exploit them in different forms.

Alex Kurtzman is working on an animated series titled Star Trek : Lower Decks, and a project Starflett Academy for the younger, with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (the duo behind “Gossip Girl , among others).

The series focused on Michelle Yeoh in captain Georgiou does not have a title, but will focus on the Section 31 of Starfleet, a secret unity of the Federation , charged with missions in the shade. Star Trek : Discovery will be back on CBS on January 17, and January 18, on Netflix in France.
