This is the rumor that is circulating right now on the DCEU side. The studios would seek to replace Ben Affleck in the role of Batman.

Will Ben Affleck say goodbye to the role of Batman in the coming months? We thought we had buried this issue a few weeks ago when the studios announced that Matt Reeves was taking over the project as a director. If the Batman had appeared in a bad position, with all the disturbing rumors circulating on his account, Warner’s statement had reassured us. However, it could in the end that the film be done without Ben Affleck. The actor had already taken a step back with the project at the beginning of the year by abandoning the place of director. Then Matt Reeves swept with a hand the script he had written for The Batman, preferring to resume from the beginning. And now, a new rumor claims that the studios would seek to replace Ben Affleck, even as he takes the role of the vigilante of Gotham in Justice League.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, if Warner likes Ben Affleck and what he brings to the character of Bruce Wayne, she would have in mind to find another interpreter. A source from the site said that the studios would try to push the actor towards the release slowly – but also respectfully – and justify the change in the future films of the DCEU. But for what purpose? In fact, we can imagine that the studios simply want to create a new franchise around the character of Batman. After all, did not Matt Reeves say that he had plans to make a trilogy on the vigilante of Gotham? Perhaps the studios find it more logical and prudent to find a younger actor who can physically keep the distance. Or, it could also be entitled to two Batmen, that of Ben Affleck playing the mentors to his future substitute. Of course, for now, all this is just rumor and fans of the director actor can still hope that Warner Bros will let him wear a little longer the costume of Batman …
