The day media coverage of the auto Show in New York began to bother, that Volvo and the XC60 suv went already with the prestigious award for Car of the year worldwide.

This is the first time that this award is given to this constructor. The Mazda CX-5 and the Range Rover Velar, two other sport utility vehicles (SUVS), were also in the running. Among the finalists, however, were able to rank in the top-3 were of impressive size: the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Kia Stinger, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen T-Roc.

This prize is awarded each year by a committee of distinguished automotive journalists from Asia, Europe, and North America.

This award adds to the one of the european Vehicle of the year won in Geneva by the all-new XC40. Everything seems to indicate that Volvo has indeed the wind in the sails.
