The Deuce should only have three seasons to cover the rise of the porn of the early 70’s to the mid 80’s.

Without surprise, the new series from David Simon and George Pelecanos is already a huge success after only three episodes (we’ll talk about the first HERE). The journalist, novelist, screenwriter and showrunner u.s. we are accustomed to such quality, especially because it knows exactly where it’s going and what he wants to do.

David Simon has explained a few months ago that the series would be normally composed of three seasons. On the mic with Collider, James Franco, actor, director and producer of The Deuce, said a little more about the pattern established :

“One of the interesting things around this series is that it is hybrid. It is both a mini-series and a series normal. There are only eight episodes per season and if it continues like this, what will surely be the case, there will be only three seasons. This will give him a perfect setting, very concise, and with a power in the cutting.

Since the beginning, the plan was to cover 14 years. The first season it is 1971-1972 and the dawn of the porn. The second is 1977-78-79 or something like that. And then, season 3 will be in the mid 80’s (1984-1985) when everything imploded and the old 42nd street was closed down by mayor Koch. I think that if we manage to do that, this will be a very good summary of a place and a time. “

The project would include the development and heyday of the porn industry in a way that is concise and effective. This scheme would also allow the series to never lose its power, and to avoid the season too. When we know that the season 2 has already been commissioned by HBO, this seems like a good start.

The Deuce is broadcast every Sunday on HBO (and in the US+24 on OCS in France).
