The Flash Season 3: Episode 16, Barry haunted by his demons, our critic!
While the episode 16 of season 3 of The Flash has just been broadcast on the CW, let’s get back together on the events that marked “Into The Speedforce”!
An incredible episode! And yes the meltynautes, after we proposed a terribly moving episode last week, it is a real challenge that waited Barry last night on the CW . Indeed, more than ever, it is the consequences of his actions that have led the whole characters into a delicate situation and it is up to him to bear the burden. While Melty’s editor suggested discovering our criticism of Season 3 Episode 15 of The Flash , let’s review the main events that marked “Into The Speedforce” broadcast last night on the American network. And the least we can say is that our hero does not, Had never been faced so frontally with his mistakes. Let us not forget that the Flashpoint remains the main plot of this third chapter and that each of the storylines was triggered by the decision of Barry at the end of season 2. While the young man had decided to go ahead and ask To Wally to save Iris from the death of Savitar, he now understood that the fate of the young woman was his punishment and that he alone had the power to change things. If the Speedforce had been magnanimous before, today, she is determined to make him pay for his actions. Remember, she had agreed to give him his powers only because Barry had promised he was at peace with his mother’s death . A shameless lie,
This time, the Speedforce does not intend to give him presents and does not hesitate to confront it with those who sacrificed for him over the years. For as the phantom figures of this universe at least strange reminds him, they sacrificed for him and because he was The Flash. A terrible face to face for Barry who realizes little by little how he upset things for his loved ones. And it was heartbreaking to see Eddie again even though he should have been the one who would have made Iris his wife or Ronnie who should have founded her own family with Caitlin. If it was not really them, their faces were enough to remind us how much they had counted in the series and in the heart of our hero . At bottom, Barry does not ‘ Is still not recovered from their starts but this guilt was not strong enough to prevent him from playing again with time. But it was probably Snart who touched us most. If you are absolute fans of Legends of Tomorrow , you know that Captain Cold has decided to sacrifice himself for his team at the end of season 1. A magnificent but impulsive gesture that left us speechless. It is now understood that he had finally decided to act as a hero and that it was thanks to The Flash that he made this choice. But the crucial part of the episode was the unexpected arrival of Jay Garrick. Barry’s ally, the Flash of Earth-3 decided to sacrifice himself to save Wally. Even if Jay is not his father, he acts as such and we were deeply moved by this scene which reminded us that the series was always very well written. It is therefore a brilliant introspection and full of authenticity that we discovered in “Into The Speedforce” . A challenge that prompted Barry to completely revise his life and choices. So, more question for him to let Wally carry the weight of his errors. It is he who will save Iris not by changing the future but by accepting it entirely. Here, He decided to distance himself from the woman of his life in order to better prepare himself. In short, it was an episode very well thought out and perfectly mastered. Poor, deep, violent and dark, “Into The Speedforce” confronted everyone with a terrible truth: Barry triggered total chaos and even if we love him, he must now pay the price for his mistakes . One thing is certain, we will find a little lightness next week thanks to an extraordinary musical crossover between Supergirl and The Flash.
