It will be a first factory in North America for Mazda, which currently imports all the vehicles it sells on the continent. According to Automotive News, the manufacturer intends to manufacture small SUV on the assembly lines in this plant, alongside the next generation of the Toyota Corolla.

On January 5, 2017, Donald Trump had just written on Twitter a text asking Toyota not to move the manufacture of its Corolla in Mexico, ensuring that the taxes at the border were going to be salty if this was the case.

Toyota Motor said will build a new plant in Baja, Mexico, to build Corolla cars for U. S. NO WAY! Build plant in U. S. or pay big border tax.
