The new series, Amazon is one of the shows most anticipated of this fall. To see if it’s worth it, it is as low as it goes.

The Romanoffs it is the new creation of Matthew Weiner, the creator of Mad Men. This mini-series is structured around eight episodes, is presented in the form of anthology. Each episode being dedicated to a character in the show, thus implicating different stories, but connected by a common point : each protagonist claims to be a descendant of the famous family royal Russian.

In fact, the series is based on the myth of Anastasia Romanov, one of the daughters of the famous tsar Nicolas II and to have survived the murder of her family in 1918. If many of you recall this history, it is mainly thanks to the animated film of 1998, Anastasia. Adopting a new identity, this Great-Duchess of Russia would have had many descendants throughout the world.

For example, the first episode entitled” The Violet Hour, will stage Marthe Keller, Aaron Eckhart, Inès Melab and Louise Bourgoin. While the next episode will follow Corey Stoll, Kerry Bishé, Janet Montgomery and Noah Wyle.

After winning five Golden Globes and a slew of awards for his previous series Mad Men, which has been crowned with success and popularity, Matthew Weiner is clearly expected at the turn for his new show. It is clear that the bet seems to respect given the first trailer and cast five stars. In march 2017, Matthew Weiner was expressed on its new series at the microphone of Variety :

“I liked the idea of telling a story in a format where you have no elements of the series, you must engage in a resolution. The escalation must occur in the story, nothing is carried over from one episode to the other. As a writer, it is an exciting idea. “
