Out there (already) 14 years ago, the first Underworld was really nice even though it already showed the limits of its concept. 5 films later, the saga still clings, and is about to face the biggest challenge of its existence.

Len Wiseman does his thing in his corner, and he has a good reason. It should also be said that he is supported in his approach by his wife, Kate Beckinsale, who plays the heroine of the saga, Underworld, Selene, which does not spoil anything. Even if we still wonder why it was always right to the new films since one has still the impression thatthey do not tell us much today.

The last pane in date, Blood Wars, is released to general indifference last February and, if it was not a great level, he redistributed them still a lot of issues, and called for another sequel. We therefore expected to see the arrival of an advertisement in this sense these next few months and we need to admit that Len Wiseman is coming to take us to court as much as it surprises us.

In effect, the developer has just announced microphone to Deadline thatUnderworld would stop not there, but that in addition the following would be in the form of a television series produced by Sony, while warning us that we must expect a few changes :

“The series will contain large differences compared to the movies. I’m not saying that it will necessarily be more adult, but his tone is definitely less comic book.”

And this is quite logical since thehas tv is the new Eldorado of the creators, and that it is not subject to the same classification system as film. It will, therefore, flourish in his vein dark and neo-gothic with impunity. That said, we are only at the beginning of the process and the show has, for the moment, no broadcaster even if logic would dictate thatit happens to us on a platform for streaming at Netflix.

Of course, the big question lies in the return or not of Kate Beckinsale in the role of Selene. If one would be pretty happy to find, this is not necessarily a good idea since it handicaperait the series in its desire to settle with what has preceded it. And even if he got stuff from crazy to Selene in the last film, it might be time to explore other aspects of this universe, failing to offer us a true adaptation of Vampire : The Masquerade, Underworld , inspired a lot.
