Stopped in 2016 at the end of its third season, the series Penny Dreadful is clearly lacking to our happiness. An error that the channel Showtime is on the point of repair.

If you have not yet watched it and you have Netflix, don’t hesitate a second : throw yourself on the series Penny Dreadful. This is the good fantastic victorian as we like, between From hell and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (the comics eh, not the film all rotten) with a Josh Hartnett the ultra-charismatic and a Eva Green brunette with desire. In short, it is the big class.

Aaaaaah, Eva…

Nevertheless, the series created by John Logan we had played a dirty trick in 2016 when, at the end of season 3, the channel Showtime had announced that the series was finished (you can read the details here if you want to spoiler). Since then, we had drawn a line on the series. the conclusion was a little abrupt, certainly, but logical, and we shall be satisfied.

Suffice to say that we are very surprised to learn today that with the string itself as a new series stamped Penny Dreadful will begin its release somewhere in 2019. If John Logan is still at the helm, the series has had few links with the previous as City of Angels (this is his sub-title) will take place in Los Angeles in the 30s, in the midst of the war against the cult of Santa Muerte.

If no actor of the original series seems to off to a tour, we are obviously not immune to a very good surprise. However, Logan has warned from the outset, its spectators, the City of Angels will have its tone well at it and, the opposite of Penny Dreadful, will examine more closely questions of society and politics :

“We are going to address several historical facts, political issues, economic, social and racial issues of the real world. In 1938, Los Angeles was facing big questions about its future and its soul. Our characters will do the same.”

It cannot, therefore, be more impatient.
