The Shadow Figures: A Normal Film on an Extraordinary Story

Cinema 8 March, 2017

Today, Oscar-nominated film The Figures of the Shadow is released in theaters. Check out our review.
The extraordinary story of three African American women who challenged the challenges of their time by making their way to NASA and especially helping the first American to leave in space. The cast includes Octavia Spencer, nominated for Best Supporting Actress , Taraji P. Henson and Janelle Monae, three actresses who make their mark on the screen and give their character everything. They lend their traits to three forgotten heroines of History and if we loved the film very much, we expected to feel a ton of emotions by discovering those women who have managed to impose themselves in a world that was not Only hostile to women, but even more to African-Americans and yet …
It lacks a little something and we do not plunge deep into the plot. The characters are endearing, touched and happy to see these heroines rewarded for their intelligence and gnash their teeth when they find themselves confronted with all the injustices of that time. We do not know if it is the rhythm of the film that prevents us from being at the bottom with these swingers, but when we emerge from the room, we are not so transformed as that … We spend a beautiful moment And it’s really cool to finally discover this part of history long ignored, but The Figures of the Shadow is, in our opinion, not the great film that it could have been .
