The manual transmission is disappearing, and the Volkswagen comes from, we provide another proof.

As of next year, the iconic Beetle will drop its three pedals and do from now on will models with automatic transmission.

In fact, it is the entire powertrain to the Beetle, which is reviewed in 2018. The Beetle will soon say goodbye to its 1.8-liter engine to accommodate a new block, four-cylinder, 2.0-liter, the same as that which takes place under the hood of the new Tiguan 2018.

With the Tiguan, this engine develops a cavalry of 184 horsepower, 14 more than the 170-horsepower currently offered by the Beetle 2017. Even if the Tiguan will appeal to a new transmission that eight-speed, the Beetle 2018 will be for its part equipped with a box six reports.

    The end of an era

The disappearance of the manual transmission on a vehicle as iconic as the Beetle can only be seen as the end of an era at Volkswagen. Heir spiritual of the famous Beetle, the Beetle is a blink of an eye history in the early days of the German manufacturer.

Times are changing, and the Beetle of today has nothing to do with the car of the people of the time. Remains that with the manual transmission is going, there are some who may shed a tear.
