The Walking Dead Season 8: Rick aged in the trailer, a huge jump in time to come? (SPOILERS)

Cinema 24 July, 2017

The trailer of season 8 of The Walking Dead was unveiled and it turned out to be full of surprises, including a much older Rick Grimes. Will there be a huge flashforward in the sequel?

Last night we were able to fill up on info about season 8 of The Walking Dead thanks to the Comic Con of San Diego but what we expected above all was the trailer of the suite that you can review above. In addition to the usual and predictable teasing of the upcoming war against Negan, the trailer showed us in the final seconds a short-haired Rick Grimes with a very white beard lying in a bed. Obviously impossible not to think of the famous theory of “Rick is in a coma and he dreamed all this zombie story” seeing these images, but Robert Kirkman has already assured that The Walking Dead would not end like this and that the Walkers existed well.

But then what is it? Watch out for the spoilers on the US comics in the sequel. As the readers know and as the image spoile it a bit if it is not a hallucination, Rick wins the war against Negan and his Saviors. Subsequently, Negan was captured and kept in Alexandria, but in the latest issues of the comics, a violent altercation between the two men ended with a broken leg for Rick. The next arc of comics thus begins after a jump in time, estimated between 2 and 5 years, which shows that the leg of Rick could not totally heal for lack of correct care and that therefore it moves with a cane … like the one seen in the trailer. Rick’s images at the end of the trailer, older than the one we know, certainly tease the next arc of comics in which Rick has broken leg.

The mystery remains to know when this flashforward will take place in the series since after the war against Negan, it is against Alpha and the Whisperers that the Alexandrians will have to fight. Moreover, Andrew Lincoln mentioned a possible leap in time from the beginning of season 8 and since it is in the trailer of this season that we see Rick as well, we wonder if season 8 will not end on The beginning of the next arc. Yet 16 episodes to tell of two huge wars seem little to us, unless the season 8 covers a much longer period thanks to many flashforwards … At least one thing is sure, the trailer of season 8 of The Walking Dead will have given us what to speculate until October 22nd!
