In the early days of the COMIC The Walking Dead, the protagonist Rick loses a hand, which has not been kept in the series. Much to the chagrin of the author Robert Kirkman.

The series The Walking Dead is an adaptation more or less faithful to a COMIC of the same name, and if she sticks sometimes to the point of reproducing his boxes the most iconic (is this not Glenn), she also removes on many occasions. We expect and always looking forward to what Rick will do to cut your hand off, as was the case in the BD at its first meeting surging with the governor (and again, this is nothing compared to what would have had to come up with Michonne). Robert Kirkman, the author of the comics, it seems, was also a little disappointed by this choice, and also waiting for this moment.

A check of the comics reproduced (almost) the same

It was during a session of questions/answers during the convention, Walker Stalker Cruise 2018 that Robert Kirkman has expressed on the subject. A fan threw to him, asking if there is an element of the story of the tv series that he would like to change, and after blagué on the fact that he has already killed Carl at least twice, he replied : “I want to cut the hand of Rick.”

If it follows the comics, this event would occur during season 3, and at the time the interpreter of Rick, Andrew Lincoln, had done everything that the show runners are not afraid to go in and mutilate his character. Unfortunately, the production was a little timid on this one, for two reasons. The first being that it would have had to write of the adventures to be likely for a character bereft of his guiding hand (ironically, this is a problem complained of by always Robert Kirkman), and the second, it is the cost that it would have cost too much money to erase the hand thanks to the CGI in each episode. However, it is not forbidden to think that to surprise the audience, it can still happen…
