In response to the accident that caused the death of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle independent of Uber, Toyota announced that it was suspending its tests.

Recall that last Sunday, a lady of 49 years of age, was caught and fatally as she walked to the side of his bike to the Tempe, Arizona area. On the field, Uber has put an end to his tests. It would be the first fatal accident involving an autonomous vehicle.

It is important to understand that Toyota does not stop its tests in the field of autonomous vehicle. The japanese manufacturer only makes the suspend history that the authorities may shed light on this matter, as mentioned by Automotive News. In addition, this decision does not affect vehicles that were fully autonomous, what Toyota defines as the mode Driver. The date for the resumption of activities has not been disclosed.

This decision applies only to the tests done in the United States. Toyota states that the experiments of the autonomous control will continue in Japan.

Last January, Toyota has introduced its latest generation of autonomous vehicle at the Consumer Electronics Show (ces) in Las Vegas. In reality, it is a Lexus LS 600hL, which was among other things equipped with lidar, the scope of which is of 200 metres and covers 360 degrees of the car.

To this end, Honda and Nissan have not announced that they were suspending their tests.
