    The japanese automaker Honda has agreed to pay $ 605 million to end lawsuits related to the airbags Takata are installed in millions of cars in the United States, said the victims ‘ lawyers Friday.

    Honda joins its rivals Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Mazda and Subaru who have done the same, while replacing the airbags defective seat manufactured by Takata, a japanese company now in bankruptcy, and that bends in almost 10 billion dollars of debt.

    Peter Prieto, one of the lawyers of the victims in this complaint under the collective name launched against Honda, said that the agreement, which must still be approved by the court of Miami, “will improve the safety of motorists by removing from the road the airbags defective”.

    The agreement provides for complainants, $ 500 of compensation and the loan of a vehicle when theirs is locked-in to replace the air bag to be defective.

    “We are pursuing our complaint against Ford and other car manufacturers to ensure that our clients receive the compensation they deserve”, he added.

    The United States is by far the country most struck by this case: the airbags of the oem japanese, likely to explode unexpectedly by projecting metal fragments, are linked to 11 deaths on american soil on the 16 identified on the globe.

    Some 70 million airbags must be recalled for repair in the United States, on a total of 100 million in the world.
