Gillian Anderson announcing that the adventure X-Files is over for her.

This is one of the first appointments of 2018 : season 11 the X-Files, back on January 3 for 10 new episodes, after a tenth season moderately satisfactory. But this new return will mark a likely step for the possible future of the series, since Gillian Anderson (again) that the adventure is over for her.

In an interview with TV Guide, the interpreter of Dana Scully says :

“I have said from the beginning that it was over for me. I was a bit surprised by the fact that people have been shocked by my announcement, because there was this new season, from what I’ve understood. “

If the Fox did actually’t announced anything official for the rest of the X-Files after season 11, difficult not to consider the possibility of a sequel is strong. In case of success, the string would have no reason to let the brand take the dust, and could jump-start negotiations with Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny and creator Chris Carter, or imagine a rebirth in another form – in the manner of a 24 : Legacy for example.

Chris Carter with his side stated that the last episode of season 11 was definitely not a conclusion, and that there was still a lot of stories to tell in the universe of the X-Files, the future is open.

This is not the first time that Gillian Anderson talks about her farewell to Dana Scully, a character that she played for the first time in 1993. Stayed in the cult series in the absence of David Duchovny, it has embodied the heroine until the end of the adventure in 2002. And then came back in 2008 in the X-Files : Regéneration. And then in 2016 for the comeback of the season 10.

Appointment by march to see what it will look like the future of the X-Files, after the broadcast of the eleventh season.
