Laurent Paquin and the French Jean-Luc Lemoine, who have known each other for almost 20 years, will share the animation of the gala Just Committed Tuesday night and Wednesday. “Duo, I find that we complement one another very well,” said Laurent Paquin. The Journal has asked some questions to the humorist of quebec.
Laurent, when was your first encounter, Jean-Luc and you ?
“It was in the mid-1990s. We had a gala for the succession, at the Cabaret du Musée Juste pour rire. There were clubs from france and quebec. Louis-José Houde was there, if I remember correctly. Then, in 1998 or 1999, I had an idea of number that I wanted to do with a Frenchman about the “fourth wall”. I was playing the heavy who didn’t understand it. Since that time, Jean-Luc and I stayed friends. We had to make four or five numbers together in Quebec. It was also crossed at the Just for laughs festival in Nantes. But here it is several years that we met. “

What do you love the humour of Jean-Luc?
“It is very biting and cynical. Solo, he has a little dark side that I like a lot, which makes me laugh. There is a lot in the black humour. As a duo, we got full though. I can easily play the kind of naïve, a little nono and he plays the French stoic a bit boring. It has two personalities on stage, which complement each other really well. “
Jean-Luc living in France, how have you been working on the gala?
“We did a lot of meetings via Skype. I also went to spend a few days in Paris, in the spring. Otherwise, there has been a lot written each of our edge. It went quite well. All the times we worked together, it has worked well. We have the same thoroughness in the work. “
What to expect from this gala event Just Hired?
“Among the topics, we will talk about, among other things, social engagement, social media, homosexuality, and feminism. We will also talk about the politics in France, protests against gay marriage and terrorism. “
This will be your 14th animation of a gala Just for laughs. Do you want to make it to 20?
“I don’t know how I’m going to make it ! (laughter) I thought I would stop after 10 events, but the Just for laughs team told me that I could continue. I still have a lot of fun to do. I find that my best performances are the ones I’ve made in the past few years, and not my first. “
The gala Just Committed will be held Tuesday evening and Wednesday, 18: 30 and 21: 30, at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier. The gala is also available on the Indigo. For details : hahaha.com.
