The English actress Jodie Whittaker will be the first woman to interpret the main character of Doctor Who, the cult science-fiction of the BBC, announced Sunday the british television channel.

The actress of 35 years, noticed in the police series Broadchurch, will make his first steps in the series for the special episode of Christmas 2017, said the BBC, which was aired Sunday in a brief trailer, just after the final of the tennis tournament Wimbledon.
