“Tiny planet” sang Plastic Bertrand, Sunday evening, on a place of festivals that seemed to be unfortunately a little too large for the crowd modest that was gathered.

On a visit to Montreal, in the framework of the Just for laughs festival, the popular belgian singer 63-year-old has ignited the crowd with a succession of his greatest hits and some new features really rock.

In jeans and black t-shirt topped with a jacket pied-de-poule, Plastic Bertrand opened the evening with “Slave To The Beat”, before he engages with “Lady Raftery”, two songs most recent in which he explores a universe of more electro.

The youthful look and the energy in the ceiling, the singer moves, jumps, dances and pacing up and down the scene without stopping.

“What is this that it is good to have you back, he launched at the crowd. I have a true love story with Québec. It is a birthday evening (he was referring to his 40-year career, 35 years of the Just for laughs festival and the 375th anniversary of Montreal), but we are not talking about age, this evening. Most of you were not even born, 40 years ago!”

Surrounded by four québec musicians, including the singer, Xavier Caffeine, and two backup singers, the singer then made a dive in the 70s and 80s, including “Supercool” and “phone to Phone my jewel” or the “Mouth love”.

His collaboration with Xavier Caffeine are born several songs such as “Amsterdam” or “animals” or “I’m bored”, decidedly more rock, that it has not failed to offer to the public.

For the song “Machine”, montreal-based artist, Frigid was joined on stage for a duet too excited.

When the rain began to part, and towards the middle of the show, the crowd is a little sparse, but the atmosphere was always electric.

“We’re going to make a leap of 40 years, with songs that were on my first album in 1977”, he launched to do a medley with “Pogo pogo”, “Sha la la lee” and “Bambino”.

In the end of the show, Plastic Bertrand had planned to regale the audience with his hits such as “tiny planet”, “Major Tom”, “Stop or else”, not to mention the inevitable “It glides for me”.
