And the least that can be said is that the brothers Salvatore were determined to finish once and for all with Cade. It must be said that the deal of the devil and Kai has precipitated Stefan and Damon in a veritable whirlwind. How can they save Elena while murdering the Master of Hell? Indeed, if Kai offered the coffin of our heroine on a silver platter, he preferred to keep the only weapon capable of killing Cade near him. After having fomented a wise plan, the Salvatore brothers succeeded in enclosing their worst enemy in the Armory. We will not lie, the return of the Big Bad of season 6 has largely been an asset for the last episodes of the series. Now in possession of the dagger, Stefan and Damon then entered an insurmountable struggle. Damon wants to retrieve Elena’s coffin while Stefan wants to use it to kill Cade. In the end, Stefan will be faster and will inject verbena to his brother leaving him alone on board. This offered a perfect opportunity to weaken the devil by ringing the bell. And the youngest of the Salvatore had planned everything by asking Alaric to ring the bell at 20h pile in order to be able to take advantage on Cade. Unfortunately, his plan will quickly fall to the water when Kai frees himself from his prison in order to attack the binoculars. Unable to leave his daughters unprotected, it is a Stefan more destitute than ever that he leaves behind. Damon then has to choose who he wants to save between the love of his life and his brother. A choice he refuses to make by offering his soul instead. And we must admit how much this scene broke our hearts . Damon spent the majority of the season without his humanity not hesitating to sacrifice his loved ones to get what he wanted. Cleared from Cade’s grip, the vampire aspires to one thing: to guarantee absolute happiness to those to whom he holds.
So it is under our unbelieving eyes that he stabs himself. But Bonnie is not far away! The young woman felt that her best friend was in danger and quickly located where she was. Unfortunately, it’s too late to save Damon from Hell and while she clings to her psychic bond with Cade to prevent her from taking her soul, Stefan takes the opportunity to definitely assassinate Cade. An act so strong that Damon’s soul was immediately returned to his body. For their part, Alaric and Caroline were doing their utmost to protect their daughters from Kai more determined than ever to aspire their powers. They finally manage to knock him out before he goes to the act and thanks to the binoculars, Kai finds his world-prison. But it was necessary that he leave on his coup d ‘ Bursting into confession to Bonnie that the Hells had not disappeared and that they were now directed by … Katherine! And yes the meltynauts, Nina Dobrev will make her big comeback next week and we are terribly impatient to see her again . Fortunately, the couple Steroline took advantage of this episode to put their wedding back on track and we say yes! In short, it was a very pleasant transient episode preparing us for the definitive end of the show. Between sacrifice, love and twists, “It’s Been A Hell of A Ride” had something to make us shiver. Waiting for next week, will Stefan die in Series 8 of The Vampire Diaries? What did you think of this episode?
