While the Uk prepares to commemorate the death of Lady Diana, a survey whose results were published this Monday, August 21, proves that the British have still not forgiven prince Charles for being responsible for the failure of their marriage.

With the approach of the 20th anniversary of the death of Lady Di, who died on 31 August 1997 in a car accident in Paris, the site YouGov has launched a survey on the popularity of prince Charles. If the British are still very many to wear the mother of princes William and Harry in their hearts, they are far from enjoying their father. According to the obtained results, only one-third of the respondents deem it beneficial to the monarchy, compared to 60% in 2013. More alarming still, 27% of them are even harmful, which is two times more than four years ago. Same goes for his wife, Camilla, that only 14% of Britons would like to see become a queen for the day when Charles will eventually to the throne.

According to Penny Judor, author and expert on the royal family, these results are somewhat surprising : “It is unpopular because his marriage was a failure, she explained to the Daily Mail. Public opinion has never forgiven – because Diana has put everything on the back and that he has never defended. He has never given his version of the facts on this relationship.

Unlike Charles and Camilla, prince William and Kate Middleton are undoubtedly members of the royal family and the most appreciated of the people. For proof, 78% and 73% of the British consider them respectively to be beneficial to the monarchy. Just behind with 77%, prince Harry has also won the favour of the respondents.
