While Hollywood remakes all round arm without ever asking us our opinion, it is infuriating to see that the only reboot that interested us will ultimately not.
Because, you see, the Tales from the crypt has this exceptional capacity to be timeless and supports better than any other, in the throes of remake or reboot. From the moment the Cryptkeeper is still there and that the basic principle is respected, regardless of the years and re-readings, Storytelling will remain Storytelling.
Memories, memories
Also, when in 2016 we learned that the network TNT to resume the series by entrusting it to M. Night Shyamalan, our heart has made a big leap, our tension has exploded in the scores, the expectation was there, coupled with a huge impatience. And because the life, time and again, this is nothing other than a slice of shit (and, in the end, one dies), a few months later, it was discovered with dismayed that, in reality, it was bad luck, because the series was bogged down in legal problems relating to the rights of exploitation and that it seemed impossible to escape, thereby condemning the project.
Then it was almost forgotten until this project had an abortion, that’s that M. Night Shyamalan himself just reopened the wound with the micro Digital Spy, confirming that the Tales from the Crypt are well and truly dead and buried :
The Cryptkeeper
“I think it’s dead. We have tried everything. It was so bogged down in a rights issue. Between the rights of the comics original, the rights of those who have made the series at the time and the fact that there was a big dispute about who had participated in the series or not, and all the rest. It had nothing to do with me, it was the generation before.”
Comments that confirm those of the president of TNT, which was announced in June 2017 that the legal aspect was going to be the biggest problem to mount the series. Issues of rights, therefore, have been fatal to this project and that is unfortunate.
