In episode 20 of season 13 of Gray’s Anatomy, Meredith and Nathan came close to death! The surgeon even had to operate a man on the plane where the two doctors were. Meredith once again avoided a real catastrophe. Over the 13 seasons of Gray’s Anatomy , some characters have not been so lucky. Indeed, we witnessed many deaths in the series that completely broke our hearts. Shonda Rhimes, the showrunner, recently told Entertainment Weekly that she regretted killing a character from Gray’s Anatomy . Who would’ve believed that ? We could not imagine that Shonda Rhimes could have that kind of regret! Furthermore, His revelation is most astonishing since it is not about Derek, Lexie, George or even Mark! But then who is it?
While Ellen Pompeo revealed what she thought was the worst episode of Gray’s Anatomy , this same episode left some regrets to Shonda Rhimes. In episode 17 of Season 2 of Gray’s Anatomy entitled “As We Know It” , Meredith had to take out a bomb from a man’s body before giving it to the deminer who exploded a few minutes later. It is this man, Dylan Young, whom Shonda Rhimes regrets having killed because he was incarnated by actor Kyle Chandler whom she would have liked to see longer on the show. “I’d get ideas on how Dylan, his character, might not explode but I showed the line of the script saying, ‘Dylan explodes’ […] it existed to explode. But I did not expect to have Kyle Chandler. I did not want to blow it up , “said the showrunner, who eventually stuck to the original script,” If Dylan were alive, would that have changed anything in Gray’s Anatomy ? “Unfortunately we will never know … And do you think Shonda Rhimes should have won Dylan Young alive in Gray’s Anatomy?
