2017, it was still a good year WTF when you look at it with hindsight. And everything leads us to believe that 2018 will be a worthy successor.

And we are not talking about the small world of the cinema, even if it is mainly what we are interested in. No, 2017 will mark the start of a new era, that it was still hard to define, but which gives us the impression that, more than ever, everything that seemed acquired can disappear in a blink of an eye. Take Kevin Spacey for example, vaporized in less than 48 hours. Or, to go in for something less creepy, take the purchase of the Fox by Disney.

This impression of living in another dimension…

An event that we would have thought impossible just a few months old, but was beautiful and well held before our eyes, helpless. And if it is not yet known to what extent this redemption is going to transform the industry, there is concern that this has given the kick-off to the other operations of this kind. And if one believes the various financial analysts in the middle, the next feast, could relate to Apple and Netflix. Indeed, following the demonstration of strength of Disney, a rumor that Apple could stuff Netflix takes more and more importance, announcing that the creator of the iPhone could afford the giant stream with an envelope of between 50 and 75 billion dollars.

That is the justification for all these rumors ? The simple fact that the new laws will Donald Trump on the u.s. taxes, the so-called “Tax Cuts” allow finally to large accounts to bring back all their capital residing abroad in the territory without fear of bleed-in passage, and thus giving them a lot of money to spend. And what better way than to listen to two financial analysts Jim Suva and Asiya Merchant, the Business Insider to understand what is happening ?

“Apple has a lot of money to spend, about $ 250 billion, and its sales turnover grew 50 billion per year. And it is a real problem. Historically, Apple has always avoided to repatriate his money on american soil for not to pay huge taxes. But the recent reforms could allow Apple to use that money. With 90% of its reserves abroad, a single tax return of 10%, that would give Apple $ 220 billion for M&A and buybacks.”

Figures that give the dizziness but doesn’t explain this potential interest for Netflix, especially at a time when Apple has just invested $ 1 billion in the production of programs. It is then that we look back to the project Apple TV from the giant, who had to compete with the other networks. Not necessarily a success because the group has taken a lot of delay on this ground, and that other competitors have emerged in the meantime, like Amazon Prime for example. Netflix is still the leader on this market, crack his wallet and redeem it would allow Apple to become the leader, without wasting time.

But we’re not there yet, nothing has been announced officially. Yet, from the moment the rumor begins to swell in financial circles, it is necessary to pay attention to them, this is how it goes every time.

That one must have a good laugh.
