The heart, a reflection of the mode of life. According to an analysis of the official agency Public Health England, the hearts of men in the United Kingdom does not show a very good health… A tenth of men aged 50 years of age have the heart of a person who would have 60. With a heart condition advanced to 10 years from their real age, these men are endangering their health, warn experts.

The study covers 1.2 million people, who have passed the Test of the heart Age (Heart Age Test), launched in 2015. The objective of this test was to assess the risk profiles of the heart. Among this cohort, 33 000 men were 50 years of age. It is on this group that the national agency has concentrated its research, because the risks are increased within this age class.

7 400 people will die within the month

For these men, the advanced age of their heart is associated with a loss of life of ten years, the researchers explain. The study also predicts that 7,400 people will die from a heart disease or a stroke in the next month.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death among men and the second among women. They were protesting a health heart relatively better : among those who had a heart aged ten years longer compared to their real age, only 36% were women. The rest was therefore represented by men.

Blood pressure

Experts do not suggest factors to the origin of this aging heart, but we can imagine that this phenomenon is due to a set of problems, among which a tobacco use still high in the Uk, particularly among this generation, a sedentary lifestyle, important, drinking too much alcohol regular or intense, or still a overweight observed among all age classes.

Public Health England also reports that half of the study participants were unable to specify their blood pressure. In England, 5.5 million people have a blood pressure too high and were not aware of this, according to the calculations of the agency, which evokes a situation ” extremely worrying “.
