For the fans of Shutter Island or The Shining, we have the film for you: A Cure For Life, today to the cinema. Check out our review.
The already strange trailer of the new film by Gore Verbinski had somewhat warned us: A Cure For Life is likely to disrupt more than one. And that’s exactly it. The pitch, basic, did not bode well: an ambitious young trader named Lockhart (Dane DeHaan), who finds himself trapped in a wellness center in Switzerland and which, as the days go by Discovers the sinister nature of the care offered to patients. And there, the film turns into a psychological thriller between Shutter Island and The Shining . These stories give us the impression of being stuck in one of those nightmares without tails or heads, whose anguishing scenes succeed each other without leaving us any respite . In the program : Eels per hundred, old ones drying up, legends worrying less legend than they appear, terrifying dentists, incest or even rape. Uneasiness and the glaucous permanently. It is very simple, when one looks at A Cure For Life , either one shudders in disgust, one is startled with fear, one holds one’s breath, or one pulls a funny head. And after ? Afterwards, you do not want to hear about spa treatment or spa. Either one holds his breath, or one pulls a funny head. And after ? Afterwards, you do not want to hear about spa treatment or spa. Either one holds his breath, or one pulls a funny head. And after ? Afterwards, you do not want to hear about spa treatment or spa.
But despite this strange feeling that never leaves us once, not knowing what to think of this story we can not more disturbing, we can not deny that the intrigue is well-tied. As the film progresses, the impatience becomes greater to discover what really lies behind the Cure. It is often said of Gore Verbinski that he has a sharp cinematic spirit, and rightly: he knows how to captivate us from the beginning to the end. And the staging is breathtaking. Plans complex and licked to the program and a sanatorium that becomes a character in its parts as its halls are perfectly filmed. But where the strength of the film resides is in the actor Dane DeHaan . Of all the plans, the film rests entirely on him. And if we knew him already a good actor, Her performance in A Cure For Life is mind-boggling . It is compared to Leonardo DiCaprio or James Dean and this is no exaggeration. Dane DeHaan is really, really talented. There is no longer any need to worry about Valerian, whose first trailer you can already discover. And you, do you want to go see this movie?
