You have to admit that it you were missing even when we have not yet talked about the big scandal that broke last October with the case of Harvey Weinstein. Except that here, we are going to talk about Bryan Singer, in fact.
Yes, it is a period of well rotten that promises to Bryan Singer, freshly kicked out of the plateau of Bohemian Rhapsody, because it is pointed more after Thanksgiving, before being accused of rape on a minor in a case that dates back to 2003. If it is not yet fully crâmé in the profession, we can already say that it smells like singed.
Bryan Singer comes out covered.
The big question that arises is, in the light of these scandals, whether the developer will know the same crucifixion in the public square that his friend Kevin Spacey. One would be tempted to say no because, if it had been intended, it would have already been done, but still, it’s a little warm for him. And today, all eyes will turn to the series Legion and The Gifted.
The two series spin-offs of the X-Men from Fox has Bryan Singer in their credits. Producer, executive, shows, he has also directed the pilot of The Gifted , and it was one of the big selling points of the series before its broadcast. If its investment in these two projects is not as sophisticated as what you might think, it seems that his mere presence became troublesome, as the pattern of Fox Entertainment, Michael Thorn, has just declared to the micro site Deadline that the accusations against Singer and his dismissal of Bohemian Rhapsody pushed him to want to get rid of it once and for all :
Bohemian Rhapsody
“The contract of a director to the pilot gives him in return the status of executive producer on both series. To be honest, after it has set in scene for the pilot, he went on to make a film and has had little involvement in the day-to-day on season 1. But we take these accusations very seriously and we take them into account for season 2. Currently, we still have a lot of time prior to its release and we’ll continue to discuss it.”
A decision that is not necessarily overtly arrested, but, if one reads between the lines one clearly sees the direction that is taken. By minimizing the contribution of the Singer series, this is a good way to make it dispensable and therefore justify his departure. And, as the Fox has cleared out his office manu militari after the announcement of his dismissal of Bohemian Rhapsody, it was difficult to stay on two series produced by the studio.
