The readmission to hospital is common after complex surgeries cancer : 15% to 50% of patients return to the service within 30 days of their exit after the intervention, for example, a cancer of the abdomen. An increase in the average number of steps daily during the recovery period reduces the risk of readmission after surgery of metastatic cancer. And this regardless of the age, other medical conditions, the diagnosis of cancer and the length of postoperative stay, as well as the frequency of the sessions before the intervention reported by the patient.

The researchers think that the remote monitoring of patients in real time could improve the use of clinical care post-operative and lessen the financial burden.
