Last night, episode 4 of American Gods was broadcast on Starz. It’s time to discover our review of “Git Gone” and the promotional video of episode 5!
Which episode ! The screenwriters bet very hard with episode 4 of American Gods. If last week, in episode 3, we learned that Laura was still alive , or at least, back in the show, this week we got many answers to our questions. Is she really dead? What is she looking for? What happened to him ? It can be said that “Git Gone” perfectly answers all these questions. It’s time to discover our criticism of this episode 4 of American Gods. “Git Gone” was dedicated to the character of Laura. From her life as a bachelor, to her meeting with Shadow and then to her separation with her husband when he was in prison, everything was revealed. The part concerning his death and his return to him also. If the previous episodes had some parts of shadows, this one was very successful and gave us many answers. Suffice it to say that we are delighted and we were captivated from beginning to end by this hard and touching story that we face!
Even though Laura was not present in the previous episodes physically, her mind was. Laura is the heart of American Gods and her story with Shadow is the flagship of this series. We have been immersed in the past where we have learned to love and understand his reactions and this character, which might have been hated at first. As we all know, she died before Shadow left prison, with her lover in the car. The interpretation of Emily Browning in the role of Laura was incredible and touching sincerity . The duo she forms with Ricky Whittle works wonders and we find the alchemy between Shadow and Laura in American Gods. In the book, this character is never really alone, It just exists in relation to Shadow. The writers have managed to show its importance in this episode 4 and tell its story. We discover a young woman unhappy in life and who does not know what she wants. It was also because of her that Shadow was imprisoned because she asked him to steal the casino in which she worked … Unfortunately, her plan was a pure failure and ruined her husband’s life …
This episode 4 about Laura’s life does not necessarily justify the things she was able to do to Shadow, nor even her mistakes, however, we get a little understanding and empathy for her. Moreover, we discover how she came back to “life”, at least on Earth, and all her journey to find her husband. It was she who saved him in episode 1, but she remained humble. Subsequently, she was assisted by Audrey and the scenes between the two women, friends and enemies at once were full of humor . In the end, dying was the best thing that could have happened to Laura. She now knows what she wants, to be with Shadow. Moreover, the episode ends in the same way as the ” Episode 3, when Shadow returns to the hotel room and discovers it on the bed. One thing is for sure, we’re looking forward to seeing Episode 5, which looks promising. How will their reunion take place? Will Shadow forgive him?
