The mayor of the city of Saint-Nazaire is firmly opposed to the coming of Bertrand Cantat at the festival “Les Escales” planned next July.

The Festival “Les Escales” was to see Bertrand Cantat in July next for a concert event. But Monday, January 22, a press release was sent out, announcing the refusal of the organizers to see the former leader of Black Desire on stage. The mayor of the city of Saint-Nazaire had strongly opposed his coming. Through an open letter published Friday, 19 January, David Samzun has confirmed its ” total disapproval with regard to the programming of this concert “.

In the Face of the controversy, the organisers have taken a decision : “That we encourage it was the singer, that of a Black Desire in the way of Detroit and Amor Fati, contributed to write the history of the rock French. His last disc we were convinced by its artistic quality, and musical, commented Gérard Chabaud, director of the festival. The invitation, scheduled for 29 July, has been frowned upon by several persons, the public and private spheres’ “.

This is not the first time that the coming of Bertrand Cantat raises a controversy. Last December, the artist – who has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the murder of actress Marie Trintignant – was also the subject of new allegations of violence, as reported by The Dot. A new blow to the interpreter of “The wind will carry us” which also comes from losing his little sister Ann.
