Big Little Lies: Episode 3, Jane’s Past, Our Critic

Cinema 7 March, 2017

Last night HBO was broadcasting a new episode of his miniseries Big Little Lies and you can discover our criticism of “Living the Dream”.
A week has gone by and it’s time to meet our critic of Big Little Lies since last night HBO was broadcasting episode 3 entitled “Living the Dream” and the lucky ones can watch in France on OCS City. This week, the drama continues in Monterey because of, among other things, the birthday of Amabella to which the children of Madeline, Celeste and Jane did not participate. Obviously this only intensified the tensions between Renata and Madeline who continues to support Jane. Let us start by the latter, always brilliantly interpreted by Shailene Woodley. Without having had much information about the mysterious murder around which is supposed to turn the series, it is the past of Jane that was revealed, Especially thanks to Ziggy . In charge of making a family tree for the school, the latter asked his mother some questions about his father but received no answer.
Madeline, on the other hand, who was there, could hear the glaring history of Jane’s rape that culminated in the birth of Ziggy. A key element that allows us to better understand Jane’s almost permanent state of tension and the secret that surrounds her past since her arrival in Monterey. The violence of his aggression is also constantly recalled by the murder that took place and one wonders whether the link formed by these parallels is real or whether the series simply seeks to blur the tracks. The way flashbacks integrate into the present into details embedded in the episodes is quite masterly and it is discovered for example that the shutter that rises at each beginning of episode is only reminiscent of the nightmare that lived Jane .
Will Celeste really leave Perry as she threatened? Will she realize that she is a battered woman and that despite her declarations and her sweet eyes, Perry is a violent husband who has no excuse? We hope … Finally Madeline continues to draw itself as a complex and sensitive character despite its bitchy exteriors. From her daughter who prefers to live with her father to her theatrical project that falls into the water, she constantly oscillates between explosion of feelings and self-control and gradually tightens us the threads necessary to bind us to her character. Despite all this , Big Little Lies continues to paint portraits of women who want to be realistic but who still seem too fuzzy and ethereal to really allow us to hang on to it . Moreover, the intrigue of the murder remains so in the background that it is sometimes almost annoying since with such a disconnected chain, you are confessed that it is difficult to keep the progression of the investigation … The potential of The series is still there and it is expected that it will reveal itself, that it shows its heroines in all their splendor, without the aesthetic restraint that still leaves the series a cold and distant imprint. While waiting for next week’s episode, find out what other series you can watch with our weekly series program ! And you, what did you think of episode 3? With a sequence as disjointed, we admit to you that it is difficult to hold the progression of the investigation … The potential of the series is still there and we wait for it to reveal itself, that it shows us her heroines In all their splendor, without the aesthetic restraint which still leaves the series with a cold and distant imprint.
