If the album “blood to Blood” by Johnny Hallyday is one of the most sold of the star, this is not a coincidence. The famous rocker was chosen to work with his son, David Hallyday.

Throughout his career, Johnny Hallyday has collaborated with the greatest composers for his albums : Charles Aznavour, Jean Fox, Daniel Balavoine, Michel Berger, Zazie, or Jean-Jacques Goldman. But among those who have him writing songs, his son, David Hallyday has played an important role. It was in 1998 that the son of the famous rocker was chosen for the album, ” Blood for blood “, the 42nd studio album from the star. After having discovered the words of the writer Françoise Sagan for the title ” shout a Few “, Johnny Hallyday has tried to find a composer for the music of this song. But no melody is fitting for the Taulier. It was then decided to entrust this mission to his son, 32-year-old.

During long weeks, the two men worked to create this album of 13 tracks composed by some of the greatest songs of Johnny Hallyday : “Blood for blood “, “to Live for the best” or even ” A day will come “. This album is also and above all the story of a son who finds his father. David Hallyday, who has always suffered from the absences of his father, has finally had the chance to spend moments of complicity at his side : “He was in his little shoes and I also was very stressed, had confided to Johnny Hallyday in 1999 to RFI Music. And the first time that he is writing an album for someone else, it is for his father. Then, we made this album in collusion with a lot of love, but at the same time with a lot of anxiety. And one is left alive”.

This album, released in stores on September 13, 1999, is stayed eleven weeks in the lead in sales with not less than 250 000 copies sold the day of its release. A genuine success.
